Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Hi Tania - I would like to write my book but I don't know where to start. Can you help me?

A. Yes, you could start by taking some classes in creative writing or join a writing group online or in your area. Writing can come easy once you know the basic rules and once you have your story in mind.

*

Q. I have lots of idea for stories - how do I know which one to choose first?

A. You need to write down all of your ideas in a notebook and list the plotlines for each one - then you will be able to clearly see which project to start off with and then you will be one step closer to completing your book. Why don't you choose to have a one hour tutorial with me over the phone or in person - all of my clients who have chosen this service have benefited tremendously from my advice.

*

Q. I have not got a degree in creative writing - does that matter?

A. No, it does not matter - what matters is your skill as a writer. Some famous writers do not have any paper qualifications at all.

*

Q. I have written over 180,000 words - it's my first novel - how will I know if it is ready to be published?

A. All you need to do is send it in to us here and we will assess it for you - after a full assessment you will know whether to keep it at that length or make it into two books. It will depend on the genre you are writing in and the age group you are aiming at too.

*

Q. I would love to get my book published - do I need a literary agent first?

A. It all depends on your book, most factual writers do not need a literary agent but most fiction writers do.

*

Q. I really want to write a screenplay - I have such a great idea. Can you help me?

A. Yes - we can either ghostwrite it for you or proofread / edit what you have written. We can make your screenplay look professional so you will be ready to submit for competition or to get funding / financing for your work.

*

Q. I think that the way I have laid out my book is terrible and looks so unprofessional - can you help me with this?

A. Yes - we will re-format it for you as part of the editing and proofreading process. Your work will look as though it is being submitted by an already professional author.

*

Q. My manuscript is over 400 pages long - it will cost me so much to post it to you and yet I want you to edit it - can you still edit it for me?

A. Yes - we can copy-edit using Microsoft Word and will send your edited ms back to you via email.

We prefer to proofread though direct on your manuscript - we will cover the cost of return postage back to you.

We will write our suggestions on your manuscript whilst proofreading - so you get an extra service and lot's of our knowledge and help too.

*

Q. I am not too sure which genre my book / manuscript fits into - can you help me decide please?

A. We can certainly do that - please see our Assessment page for details.

*

Q. I want to use a pen name for my writing - can you help me to choose one?

A. Yes - we will help you to choose a pen name (pseudonym) and also suggest titles for your book if you need help with that too.

*

Q. I was told that I am not a good writer and that I should not bother with the book I am writing.

A. We hear from so many people who have been told that - usually ten per cent of these people will need to reconsider their chosen writing career - but the majority of writers we hear from are just lacking confidence - we can help all writers blossom and bloom!

*

Q. I wrote an excellent book last year but it was rejected by many Agents - why was this?

A. This is a very competitive industry. I have noticed that you did not have your manuscript professionally edited before you made your submissions and that you used paper that was too thin as well - getting your work professionally copy-edited and proofread plus using the correct font, spacing, weight of paper and quality of ink will ensure that you are taken more seriously next time. Also - your submission letter was not very informative and you did not send them a synopsis - I will help you to redress all of these things and get you off to a flying start!
